The goal is estrogen control, not complete estrogen elimination. Individual response can differ substantially depending on testosterone dose, other aromatizable compounds and personal aromatase activity. The existing Thai Anabolics practical range is 0.5mg every other day up to 0.5–1mg/day, adjusted according to response rather than automatically using the highest amount.
Long half-life
When Should Arimidex Be Taken?
Anastrozole has a mean elimination half-life of approximately 50 hours, and plasma concentrations approach steady state after about 7 days of once-daily administration.[1]
That long half-life is why every-other-day schedules are commonly used in bodybuilding when a lower total weekly amount is sufficient. There is no requirement to take Arimidex at a specific time of day.
With or without food
Can Arimidex Be Taken With Food?
Yes. Food can slow the rate of Anastrozole absorption slightly, but it does not meaningfully change the overall amount absorbed.[1]
For practical use, consistency is more important than timing Arimidex around meals.
How it works
Arimidex Reduces Estrogen Production by Blocking Aromatase
Aromatase is the enzyme responsible for converting androgens such as testosterone into estrogens. Anastrozole selectively inhibits this enzyme, reducing estrogen biosynthesis.[1]
Official pharmacodynamic studies show how potent the compound can be: in postmenopausal women, 1mg/day reduced estradiol by approximately 70% within 24 hours and approximately 80% after 14 days of daily administration.[1] Those percentages come from the approved medical population and should not be assumed to predict the exact reduction in a male steroid user.
For bodybuilding, the practical point is simple: Arimidex can be a strong estrogen-control tool, so more is not automatically better.

Arimidex With Testosterone & Aromatizable Steroids
Arimidex is most relevant when a cycle contains compounds that can aromatize into estrogen, particularly testosterone. Its purpose is to reduce excessive estrogen formation when estrogenic effects become difficult to control.
Because aromatization varies between users, the same testosterone dose does not necessarily require the same Anastrozole amount for everyone. Estrogen-sensitive bloodwork is more informative than automatically escalating the AI dose.

What Arimidex Does — and Does Not Do
Arimidex is not an anabolic steroid and is not used as the muscle-building component of a cycle. Its primary role is estrogen management.
In men with low testosterone, clinical research has shown that 1mg/day Anastrozole can raise testosterone while reducing estradiol, demonstrating how aromatase inhibition can change the testosterone-to-estrogen balance.[2]

Arimidex vs Nolvadex
Arimidex and Nolvadex are both used in estrogen-related bodybuilding discussions, but they work differently.

They should not simply be treated as interchangeable. Current Anastrozole prescribing information reports that Tamoxifen reduced Anastrozole plasma concentrations by approximately 27% when the two were co-administered.[3]
That interaction is one reason Arimidex is better understood primarily as an estrogen-control AI rather than automatically added to every Nolvadex-based PCT.

Important practical consideration
Do Not Aim to Eliminate Estrogen Completely
Estrogen has important physiological roles in men, including bone and sexual function. Research that deliberately produced estrogen deficiency in men using Anastrozole demonstrates that estradiol contributes independently to normal skeletal physiology.[4]
For steroid-cycle estrogen management, the useful goal is therefore control, not driving estradiol as low as possible. This is why the page keeps the lowest-effective-dose principle from the existing Thai Anabolics guidance.
