How Long Does Nandrolone Decanoate Last?
Human pharmacokinetic research found that Nandrolone Decanoate is released slowly from the intramuscular depot. One study estimated a mean depot-release half-life of approximately 6 days, while a later study reported a terminal half-life of approximately 7–12 days after a single intramuscular injection.[1][2]
That long release profile is the practical reason DECA is commonly run for longer cycles and does not require the frequent injection schedule associated with short esters.

Why DECA Is Used for Muscle & Size
Nandrolone Decanoate has direct human evidence for increasing lean tissue. In a randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study of experienced male bodybuilders, 200mg/week for 8 weeks increased body mass by 2.2kg and fat-free mass by 2.6kg compared with placebo.[3]
A new 2026 systematic review and meta-analysis of 20 randomized controlled trials also found that Nandrolone Decanoate increased lean soft tissue by a pooled average of approximately 1.59kg versus placebo, although strength outcomes were less consistent across the clinical studies.[4]
